Sponsorship

The ultimate objective of the Tres Dias ministry is to strengthen and extend the body of Christ.

Sponsoring a Candidate
One way for us to do His work is to sponsor candidates on a weekend. Please pray fervently for guidance regarding who to approach with invitations.  It is not ideal for team members to sponsor candidates but we are a small community and continue to encourage this practice. However, if you are not on Team, sponsoring candidates is your special responsibility and privilege. Please consider a special call to "ACTION" regarding candidate sponsorship. Make sure candidates understand that this is a three day commitment. Remember to invite candidates' families to the opening and closing and to provide transportation to St. Joseph Conference Center. Plan to stay for singing and refreshments.

Being an effective sponsor includes:
1.  Praying for your candidate
2.  Explaining the three day commitment
3.  Providing transportation to the retreat
4.  Going out of your way to provide palanca for them
5.  Inviting candidate's family and friends to opening and closing
6.  Planning to stay for singing and refreshment

Who to Choose as a Candidate
1.  Candidates are those who have a desire for a closer relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
2.  Candidates can be part of any Christian denomination.
3.  Candidates must be at least 21 years old.
4.  Candidates cannot have attended a Tres Dias weekend or similar experience recognized as equivalent by Tres Dias previously

Responsibilities of a Sponsor  (as stated in Tres Dias Essentials)
1.  Use prayerful discernment as to your choice of Candidate:
     · Church leaders (laity and/or clergy),
     · Dependable church members, less-active members, and/or
     · Christians desiring renewal & Spiritual growth;
     · Avoid inviting:
          - non-Christians;
          - persons undergoing a severe emotional crisis (family break-up, severe grief; psychologically unstable);
          - church-hoppers with a critical spirit;
          - persons looking for yet another spiritual high;
          - persons living a non-Christian life style.

2.  Commit to sponsoring your Candidate in all 3 phases:
      · Pre-Weekend (prepare Candidate for participation in the Weekend);
      · Weekend (prepare Candidate for effective participation in the Fourth Day);
      · Fourth Day (encourage participation in a Reunion Group, local Secretariat, Secuelas.)

3.  As the most important part of Tres Dias, Sponsorship is the first act of palanca before the Weekend ever begins.  It undergirds the Weekend with personal acts of sacrificial love, such as prayer and palanca.

4.  Support the Weekend through your prayers, palanca, and attendance at Opening, Mananita (as applicable), and Closing.  Support the Candidate’s family by offering help during the Candidate's absence.

5.  Pray throughout the Weekend

6.  Help the new Pescadores re-enter their church and consider ways to serve their new commitment within their church and environment.

7.  Inform and mentor ways for the new Pescadores to attend Secuelas, Secretariats, and other ways they can serve the Tres Dias Community and future Weekends.

8.  Help the new Pescadores to get into a reunion group or to start one, and to sponsor others.
